VidBox ("we", "us", "the app") is a movie and TV discovery app. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. If you have a question, write to support@vidboxapp.online.
If you allow it, VidBox uses your device's approximate location to (a) check today's weather for the For You tab and (b) show movie theaters near you in the Cinemas tab. Your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to get the weather and to Apple Maps (MapKit) to search for cinemas. Your city name is obtained on the device using Apple's location services. We do not store your location on any server of ours. You can turn location off at any time in iOS Settings › VidBox › Location; the app then simply asks you to enable it for these two tabs.
Movie and TV information, posters and ratings come from The Movie Database (TMDB). When you browse or search, the app sends your request (for example the title you typed) to TMDB, which — like any web service — receives your IP address. Your recent searches are kept only on your device and can be cleared in the Search tab.
To suggest what to watch, the app sends a short text prompt containing today's weather, your city name, the day and time of day, your Movies/Shows preference, and the titles you marked as Watched to an AI service (OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to). The prompt does not include your name, email, exact coordinates or any device identifier. AI suggestions are cached on your device for the day.
"My List" and "Watched" are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded, and deleting the app deletes them.
If you turn notifications on, the app schedules a daily reminder on your device (a local notification). No push-notification server or token is involved. Switch it off in the app's Settings tab or in iOS Settings.
VidBox is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use device information such as your IP address, device and app details and, only if you tap "Allow" on the iOS tracking prompt, your advertising identifier (IDFA), to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. If you decline, ads are still shown but are not personalised using cross-app tracking. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Each service processes data under its own privacy policy. We share only what is needed for the feature you are using.
Everything VidBox stores lives on your device (your lists, recent searches, settings and the daily suggestion cache) and is removed when you delete the app. We keep no personal data on our own servers. Third-party services keep data according to their own policies.
VidBox is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Movie and TV listings may include mature titles.
All network requests from the app use encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but because we hold no personal data on our own servers, the risk to you is limited.
The third-party services above may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States and the European Union.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to certain processing. Because we do not hold your personal data, most of these can be exercised directly on your device or with the third-party service concerned. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. To make a request, contact support@vidboxapp.online.
We may update this policy when the app changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version; significant changes will also be reflected in the app's update notes.
